The Catch(es) of the Day

The first striped bass:

And the smaller second one:

   At least, I caught something.

Cold Comfort For Change?

My last fishing trip of 2014 took place on September 9 in Riverdale. I probably enjoyed the cloudy weather.

I caught two small stripers, the first measuring nine inches and the second measuring seven.

Come on, It's Time to Go

My next fishing trip was on July 27, 2014 in Hudson Park. I didn't catch anything, and I recall not staying long.

The Return of the Elizabeth Dane?

Three years ago, in New Jersey, I spotted a sailboat or an old-looking clipper ship, making its way on the fog-strewn Hudson River. I suspected it might be the long-lost Elizabeth Dane. That day, in Riverdale, I made another possible sighting.

If it was the Elizabeth Dane, I got to see it in the bright sunshine with its sails raised. It was, once again, heading north. This time, it also towed two empty rowboats.

Running Over the Same Old Ground

My next fishing trip was a week later on June 20, 2014 in Riverdale. I fished past sunset and left around 9:30 PM when it was dark,

According to the photos I took, I caught three fish: a small, five-inch flounder and two perch measuring seven inches each.

Swimming in a Fish Bowl Year After Year

On June 13, 2014, I returned to the Hudson River in Alpine, New Jersey. I didn't catch anything or stay long. The heavens opened up, and it quickly became unbearable. In the above photo, you can normally see Yonkers across the Hudson when it's not covered by a thick layer of fog.

As you can see from the image above, where I usually go quickly flooded, and I was standing in several inches of water.

It was a miserable experience. I abandoned the Alpine Disaster of 2014 and returned home to dry off.

The Explanation of the Lengthy Absence and the Return of a Man Called Horse

Despite being gone for two-and-a-half years, I did go fishing in 2014 and 2015. Unfortunately, I didn't blog about my exploits. It's not that I gave up blogging, but that I just never got around to it, being preoccupied with too many personal and professional issues. I did keep detailed notes of each trip in my cell phone, which I eventually hoped to use to reconstruct my fishing experiences of 2014 and 2015 for my three loyal readers.

Unfortunately, my cell phone burned out last month. I lost everything on it, including my fishing notes, contacts, downloaded articles I use for research, and six months of progress on Simpsons Tapped Out.

However, I still have time-stamped photos of each fishing trip on my digital camera, and I will update this blog (which turns 10 next month) accordingly.
